My name is Rachael Kaapu and I am a senior at the University of Oregon. I am originally from Kamuela, Hawaii, where I was born and raised. In 2007, I moved to Eugene, where I am currently earning my B.A. degree in Journalism, Communication Studies and French.
I created this blog to log my journey and progression as an upcoming PR practitioner. I will be writing about all aspects of PR to create a basis for what I know and to inspire discussion with other PR students and professionals on the Internet.
I have a broad background in media relations and research and have dabbled in social media, however, I would like to expand my knowledge to include branding, product launches, event planning, crisis management, media training, and investor and employee relations. Industries that I would like to explore include tech, beauty, restaurants, hospitality, and education.
In my free time, I enjoy riding horses, playing tennis and going to the beach. As a native Hawaiian, the ocean calls to me. Traveling and exploration are also hobbies of mine. I am an animal lover and spend many hours walking my two Dachshunds around the hills of Eugene.
